P&ID Data Manager Linked Annotations Not Working

When we try to drag a value from a Data Manager cell to the drawing to create a Linked Annotation, nothing happens. I've had issues with this in the past with Plant 3D and a restart would sometimes fix it. In this case, all the team members are unable to use this feature in both 2024 and 2026 releases.

@Owen_Whitehouse ,

I and everyone involved would be very pleased if you could document your problem with pictures and descriptions. Simply writing "P&ID Data Manager Linked Annotations Not Working" may be the answer, but unfortunately, we can't peer into your workings through a crystal ball.

Thank you.

@h_eger It's not really a necessary part of the explanation. Data Manager allows drag-and-drop of Linked Annotations in P&IDs.

Our users around the world are frequently finding that this feature stops working after a few uses (with no error), or simply does not work at all. Sometimes restarting makes it work again, sometimes not. I was opening up the conversation to see if this is something the other users are experiencing.

@Owen_Whitehouse ,

Please contact Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D Support.
Since I've only been involved in the development of AutoCAD Plant P&ID and AutoCAD Plant 3D since 2007, I don't need any further information on the problems described, as I automatically guess all 831 commands and system variables and immediately know what the community members are talking about.
NO, unfortunately, that's not the case, and it would be very helpful if you would adhere to the rules of this community, as it would simplify our free support!

Short post from our Community Manager Worldwide

To maintain order and clarity and make it easier for everyone who wants to help:

- Please state the product you're asking about in the subject line of your topic.

- In the first post of your topic, provide as much information as possible, such as the product version, service pack, etc., and if possible, include screenshots and videos, so that we can provide answers more efficiently.

- Please only ask one technical question per topic so that the community maintains clarity and helps more efficiently.

- If someone has helped you, please like and mark the relevant posts as the solution so that other users can also get help more quickly.

Otherwise, I wish you all a lot of fun here in the German-speaking community.

If you have any questions about the community, you can of course send me a private message at any time.
