Hi All
I'm struggling to find the error in my Project Setup!
I've created different valve symbols most of which are behaving correctly, but one is causing issues.
When I insert the symbol from the tool palette, it shows the correct symbol hovering on the cursor. However when I pick the insert point, the block actually placed in the drawing changes to a similar but different block.
So far I have reviewed the Project Setup and found that:
In the class settings, the symbol name is correct.
The preview of the symbol is correct.
If I Edit Symbol, the symbol name is correct.
If I Edit Block, the block is correct.
Under Properties the Graphical Style Name is correct.
But the wrong symbol is still being placed!
Anyone suggest where the incorrect reference might be that is causing this issue please?
Thanks
Phil
Solved! Go to Solution.
Did you make sure the class supports the current standard set?
Also, make sure your symbol list is using your symbol for your normally property.
Hi Dave
Thanks for your time...
Yes, the supported standard seems fine
And the list box is populated, although I'm not exactly sure what I am looking at here:
Can you see anything obvious on the Project Setup I am missing?
If I edit the block for the "ECL Scroll Syphon with Ball Valve" item it is correct.
If I place the item using the palette symbol the wrong block is placed.
I have removed any incidence of the block in all drawings and purged, but to no avail.
Any other ideas/comments appreciated.
I am new to all this (can't you tell) so please feel free to suggest the blatantly obvious.
Phil
When you select Hand Valves on the tree to the left is there a block displayed? I have seen that overwrite the blocks under it.
Thanks Kyle but no, I have checked all folders above the class item concerned and none have symbols/blocks associated.
Phil
Does it work in a brand new P&ID drawing?
Hi Dave
No it still comes in as the incorrect block, even in a drawing with no other content.
What I don't get is that it shows the correct block hovering on the cursor. It's only when you place the symbol at a snap point that the incorrect block appears.
Phil
Not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but we appear to have resolved the rogue symbol issue.
Having looked a bit deeper, another discovery was made.
Examining the details in Project Setup for this block, everything seems in order.
But once the block has been placed, a right click properties on the block shows that the symbol name is incorrect.
To resolve the problem, the item class was purged from the Project Setup and then re-created along with a new symbol name.
Although the block already existed in the project, when it came to assigning the block to the symbol, the block was opened and saved over its own previous filename. This prompted the block redefine process.
Once the block was redefined and the symbol added back to the tool palette, everything is functioning correctly.
