Linear weights for structural members in AutoCAD Plant 3D

Hi, i'd like to lock the Linear Weights for Structural Steel in the Catalog. Once these weights have been entered there is no reason for them to change. Is there a way of locking these data cells in the database?

Ah that's a shame. Thank you for your reply.

I'm having trouble getting my structural steel members to adopt the linearweight as defined by the "Structural Catalog.acat". I have updated the file, moved members in the dwg, and then moved back to force an update (as suggested in other posts) but nothing has happened.

Can you tell me what the link is between the members and the catalog? or if when running a report on the Structural Members, there is a way to have the report creator look at the Catalog file for the linearweight rather than what the dwg properties says?

@lewis.parkinsLS9W9 ,

If you have updated the linear weights in the current project in Structural Catalog.acat, the inventory data will NOT be updated.
The changes are only applied to NEW objects.

Ah, again a shame that it is not able to update existing items! I guess there is no way of doing this other than exporting from DataManager and editing the fields in Excel then re-importing, as I have been doing thus far.

Thank you for your help.

May I can come back to this topic.

I have set the linear weight parameters in the structural catalog via SQL editor. Everything is working fine, calculation is done properly. BUT:

When I change the member by clicking that button (see below) to another member the linear weight and therefore the calculation does not update. When I enter the linear weight manually it calculates correctly.

Am I doing something wrong or is that a bug (ACAD P3D 2025)?
