Line Breakers

Hi everyone!

I already asked something about the line breakers in the past and it helped me a lot at that moment. Now I would like to understand it a little further. A project I have been working on has come to the point to export the line list. And some issues have come up with the reducers being segment breakers and the pipeline group breakers, which do not work as i hoped they would.

Since the reducers are segment breakers they do not act as we would want in the line list - f-e.: Lets say I put in a pipeline between 2 equipment and isert a reducer in the middle. In the line list we then have 2 lines  with the same pipeline group number and 2 different line sizes. And the information given is:

Pipeline 1 - from equipment 1 to concentric reducer

Pipeline 2 - from concentric reducer to equipment 2

I tried every Join possibility to make it work so that the information given would say:

Pipeline - from equipment 1 to equipment 2, and with the pipeline size change to be mentioned in the information in the line list, but I could not make it work.

Is there a way to make it work as we would want or should I post this issue under suggestions?

My second probelm is with pipeline segment group breakers. I designed the breaker block symbol to be just an attachment point so that no information would be shwon on the P&ID when it is placed in the pipeline. Now, the problem is that when I put it in, f.e.: a T-point connection of pipelines, which all have the same pipeline number, it does not work as we desire. If i put it directly into the T-cross section I cannot select the wanted pipeline to become a new pipeline group. So the line list will never look as we would like it to look. To overcome this problem I usually put the breaker slightly above the T-cross section, but then a small pipeline segment appears in the line list, and that makes it unusable.

I am attaching a picture to make u better understand what I am refering to.

The top picture shows a T-connection point with no breaks. So the pipelines have the same pipeline number

The bottom picture shows a T-connection point with a pipeline group segment breaker. As I said, if I want the vertical line to become a new pipeline group I cannot insert the break point directly in the T-cross section point. I have to place it a little above the cross section and to better show you what I meant I substituted the pipeline into a different color.

Now, my question is, is there a way to put it directly into the T-cross section and choose the vertical line to become a new pipeline group with its own pipeline group number?

I actually find a way around but it takes so much time that I cannot imagine that the program was meant to be used in this manner.

Please help me on these 2 issues. Without the knowledge I am afraid to start the next project, since I had to do the line list for the previous project mainly by hand.

Thank you and kind regards!
