levele of details not satisfactory

Hi Guys

it s mainly about the level of details which i m not happy with on plant3D.

on my 3D model for a example a cs300 flanged ball valve doesnot really look like a real one. i m facing this issue very often during my projects design on plant 3D, the level of details is not satistfactory,  i tried to import blocks from the web from somevendor but i gives too much errors and dis connections in the isos plus the time consumed to look for the correct one.

any advise in this regard is very welcom

Hi,

You'll need to create block-based fittings and add them to a catalog for later use in your pipe specs.  You can create the blocks from any imported drawings.

You can find a guide to doing this in the help file.

Dear @kamel.rhilitz ,

there are only 2 ways you can deal with it.
1. You accept the simplified representation of the Plant 3D objects
or
2. You create a block-based catalog where you work with the detailed models of the manufacturers.

Please take into account that larger projects with more than 500 block-based objects have to live with the delay in graphics performance.

Just for information with which 3D CAD piping program you have worked with before that I do not know any planning software in plant construction the ien detailed representation (E3D, Smart Plant 3D, PDS etc.)

A few options to add to @h_eger 's list:

3. Build the valves with Python scripts (see example pic below).

4. Buy/download an already created catalog (if one exists).

5. Use a different software.

i m mechanical engineer not it developer..dont wanna get into that and i m not paid for too 😉

i will just use block based catalogue.
