Hi,

i wrote a manual for AutoCAD Plant 3D - Basic level. You can get more informaion about this manual at www.cadteam.nl. This manual is about 400 pages with exercises that will take you through Plant 3D. Sent an e-mail to info@cadteam.nl and they will tell you how to obtain it.

Regards,

Barend-Jan (BJ) van Zijtveld

There are no books commercially available, but there are the Essentials courses from the CADTeam in the Netherlands here is the contact info: info@cadteam.nl.  The books are frightfully expensive.  Right now there are three books and I think they are planning the fourth.  The books are:  AutoCAD PnID Essentials, PnID Advanced , and AutoCAD Plant 3D Essentials.  I have found these to be very helpful, and sometimes very amusing.  It seems to me that the books are transcriptions of the Essentials courses in The Netherlands by non-native English speakers, and you may have to read the sentence a couple of time to get the gist.  One line that hand me rolling went something like this "AutoCAD Plant3D gives the user the ability to create platforms and railings for people to fall off."

It took me several weeks to convince my company that this would be a good investment,  We have five seats and I convinced my boss that we should have two sets.  With shipping to the US, $715 USD.  Is it worth it?  If I didn't have it, it would take me a couple of years to use it competently.  Good Luck

Side note 'funny' for you Roy:

I was in Germany attending a training class for English speaking folks.  The trainer wanted to say, "computation", but kept saying, "copulation".  Once he has the whole class laughing, we let him in on the 'funny'.

You can find manuals and book references here in the forums. As you learn you can ask questions here, and mostly will find answers. But if you need advance knowledge in design and administration, you must hire someone who is very knowledgeable in the software.

Training follies... I was in some on-site training from a software vendor, and they had brought in an instructor from Quebec.  One of the other students had a "James Earl Jones" deep voice, and we kept hearing from the back of the class "Luc?  Luc!  Luuuc!!!"  After a couple of days of that somebody immediately jumped in with "... I am your father!".  Hilarity ensues.  😄

Funny you ask,

it seems the new method of learning new tools is to pay for a manual or have an expert explain to you how to use it. Either case it is not good.

You spend alot of money for the software and cannot get a manual...

other cad systems you do.

Yes, it is a full manual for AutoCAD Plant 3D, at www.scribd.com, but unfortunately it is in Spanish. Spread the world, even I think it is useful for Spanish speakers.
