how to extract equipment list from external P & ID

Hi,

I have P & ID drawings received from one of our contractor, when I try to open and insert them to my project all the the piping tags are just block reference, pipelines are just lines and all the piping components are just block references how to convert all objects to the Plant 3d component on one shot and run report for the data.

Any help!

Followings methods already tried but no results

1. All the drawings are inserted into project

2. convert block to P & ID object but this is not attaching the associated tag annotation to the block

If its an actual AutoCAD P&ID then you can insert it to the project then the data should come through also. If its a dumb P&ID (AutoCAD lines and blocks) then you can do the above also, but you'll need to convert all the elements one by one, unless you know some scripting then you might be able to batch convert elements.

Thanks for the reply, the drawings I received are actually, are built in AutoCAD Plant 3d, however when i am inserting them into my project, these drawings are not the same. As you said i have to convert one by one to the AutoCAD P&ID elements, this is a time consuming task and chance to have errors are more. "Scripting" I do not have any idea, would you recommend me reading elsewhere about this. If I select the pipeline in drawing all pipeline components which are attached to the pipe are highlighting this is as expected from any P & ID drawings but in data manger there engineering data is available.
