How to automatically include bolt length in Item Code like Description in Plant 3D?

Hi everyone,

I have a spec in Plant 3D where the DESCRIPTION of bolts/stud bolts uses @@@ as a placeholder for bolt length. When I place a flange in a 3D model, Plant 3D automatically replaces @@@ with the correct calculated bolt length in the DESCRIPTION field, which works perfectly.

However, I want to do the same for the ITEM CODE field. Currently, if I enter SB-@@@ in the Item Code field, it just displays literally as SB-@@@ — it does not replace @@@ with the calculated bolt length.

I have tried using @@@ and <BoltLength> but it doesn’t seem to work in the Item Code field.

My questions are:

Is there a way to make Plant 3D automatically substitute bolt length in the Item Code field, just like it does in the Description field?

If yes, what is the correct syntax or workflow to do this in the spec editor?

Are there any known workarounds using fields, custom properties, or templates to achieve this?

I am using Plant 3D [your version here, e.g., 2025] and my units are mm/inch.

There is a field for bolt lengths as part of the properties, you'd have to see if you can get that value and put it in the item code. Maybe look at mapping?
