Hello all,
I'm having a couple issues which are driving me a bit mad right now! Hoping you guys can help me because this project is due ASAP.
I'm trying to add a quick disconnect from Parker to the end of a threaded nipple from McMaster Carr. I've included a link to the part files for both parts if you feel like trying to recreate this. Ideally I'd love it if somebody could record a quick video of them importing these step files, properly applying the ports, and then connecting the threading of the two parts. The thread engagement is defined by the nipple, which is 0.72".
The issue I'm having is that I can't get the quick disconnect's female threaded side to engage with the male nipple's threaded side. The faces line up, but I can't get the male end to insert into the female end. I have the engagement length for the male end listed as 0.72". The female I tried also having listed as 0.72". Then I tried 0". You can't seem to put negative. I tried the same for the male side as well.
I then tried to define the port on the quick disconnect as the point where the male connector bottoms out, 0.72" in. However, now the quick disconnect goes in backwards, no matter which direction I orient the port when I'm using PLANTPARTCONVERT to go between a step and a plant part.
Additionally, when I'm editing the field "engagement length" for other parts, it doesn't seem to work. For example, I was making slip-on flanges, and the "engagement length" field didn't seem to do anything at all no matter what value I put in. Can you just not use custom files to make plant parts in P3D? What am I doing wrong?
