Fastener Graphic Orientation

Hi All,

 

I have created a fastener, a joint to consume the fastener, and have been able to successfully consume both in Plant 3D. The fastener graphic works as intended in one direction, but when deleted and parts re-connected in the opposite direction either the joint or fastener is backwards, and sadly the graphic is not symmetrical.

 

As an example, if I connect a flange to pipe the graphic is orientated correctly, but if I connect pipe to flange the fastener is in the wrong direction.

 

I'm expecting there should be means in Python to determine the direction of parent ports, or, in the XML there should be an attribute available for fastener alignment control. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hey, and thanks for the reply.

Asking for complete technical documentation and configuration is a big ask. I can provide a taste, but there's a lot of background work to make this happen.

Why does Plant 3D only insert 2D graphic symbols for welds?
Precisely for this reason, because P3D does not work with asynchronous arrangements, as you only have two connection points for an SO flange: S1 on the flange side and S2 on the pipe side.
This causes inconsistency between the connection points.
I don't think there is a solution for this, but I don't know everything.
