Equipment sharing tags over multiple drawings.

Hi All,

Our company has been using AutoCAD P&ID for PFDs and P&IDs.  In doing this we are required to link several equipment the main reason for this is to have both PFDs and P&IDs in the same project.

This has worked fine until I noticed certain properties that are required to be per equipment per drawing are coming through blank.  I assume the reason for this is that if both symbols one in PFD-001 and one in PID-001 receive their acquired values from the drawing number the program views this as a clash.

Does anyone know of a way to select which properties get linked and which will be unique?

Thanks for any help and let me know if you require more information or explanation.

Hi

You can add 2 new custom categories under the Drawing Properties in the Project setup. One for P&ID Number and one for PFD Number.

Then add these properties to the Equipment Class Settings and create an acquisition rule that it acquire the P&ID and PFD number from the "Drawing Properties"

In your Equipment Report, select these 2 Drawing number properties to show up in the report.

You will get one Equipment tag which will show both the P&ID and PFD Number.

It's very important that when you create a new drawing (Right-click the drawing number and select Properties, make sure you fill the relevant drawing number.)

Hi,

Thank you very much for the suggestion.  That solution worked perfect and I had never thought of doing that.
