Is it just me, or are Plant 3D's equipment nozzles extremely limited?
I don't see anything for Long Weld Neck flanges.
I don't see anything for Heavy Barrel flanges.
I don't see anything for Equal Barrel flanges.
I don't see anything for Couplings as flanges.
I don't see anything for O-Lets as flanges.
etc, etc, etc.......
I know you can make new "end types" in the NOZZLE Catalog.acat, but graphically, they don't look like what they're supposed to. And the "end types" don't give you the correct information on your connected piping (bolt lengths/pipe engagement lengths).
We don't have the time during construction to answer hundreds of RFI's because equipment connections don't give the correct data.

One more thing;
How do you place a nozzle on a nozzle? I've never found anything explaining that procedure using Plant 3D.

, you then create a new end type for that specific nozzle type to be able to specify special bolts/gaskets. Have a look at the nozzle content pack for additional nozzles (or the basis of custom catalog nozzles you can modify): Nozzle Content Pack | AutoCAD Plant 3D | Autodesk App Store

Is there another add-on that you know of for Equipment Trim items? Something that has some of the following;
Grounding Lugs
Manway Davits
Stairways with handrails (not just ladders up to platforms, for large storage tanks)
Nozzle Reinforcement Pads (if they aren't part of the nozzle content pack)
Clips for piping
I went through the entire catalog and it doesn't seem like they have any add-ons for Equipment Trim.
Sorry. I'm not going to learn Python or hire someone who knows Python to add functionality that should, in my opinion, natively be part of the software.

Most nozzle on nozzles that I deal with are couplings/olets on nozzles that are bent coming off the bottom of vertical vessels (see screen shot). I don't think that will work for these, but decent suggestion.
I'll have to try and remember that. It's still not going to visually look correct, but hopefully will be able to connect piping/instrumentation to them (second screen shot).
For equipment that cannot be created with the built in function, it's pretty easy to just create it with 3D solids, make it a block, convert it to equipment, and add nozzle locations as required. This is exactly what we're doing. Works for any type of equipment. Vessels. Exchangers. Finned pipe. We're doing our fabrication drawings in Inventor, and export the final equipment to AutoCAD, create a block, convert to equipment, assign nozzles and locations. Done.
Just 'cause Autodesk in their wisdom called the software package Plant3D - does not mean it does all things plant. This is a basic piping software only. In my opinion better than Cadworks, but I don't see it at the same level as AutoPlant. Not comparable at all to Smart3D or Aveva.
Most people I know say CADWorx is equal to or better than Plant 3D and I don't know many who actually use AutoPLANT any more.
For certain Aveva and Smart3D are in a league of their own but they also cost what? And admin overhead is high.
