Educational Version - Accessing Plant 3d autocad 2023

Hi all,

I am an IT admin at a university and I cannot seem to locate AutoCAD Plant 3D in the installation of AutoCAD 2023. Support is adamant that Plant 3D is included in the base installation but I am unable to find the project pane or any other Plant 3D utilities.

Is Plant 3D included in the AutoCAD 2023 Educational Version? If so, how can I go about confirming that it has been installed?

Finally, I have seen mention of "AutoCad with Additional Toolbars" that includes Plant 3D. If this is what I need, can someone point me to where I can get the installer and license? I am unable to find it through the Education Downloads page.

Apologies if this is a redundant question, but, frankly, I do not use AutoDesk products so my understanding of them is limited and I was unable to find anything on the forums.

Thanks,
-Ethan

Dear @Ethan.cumley ,

unfortunately, we cannot provide any information on the education version of Plant 3D.

Please contact Autodesk's Education Support, see link.

Thank you for the reply!

Unfortunately, AutoDesk Educational support suggested that I contact the forums for further support:

Hi Ethan,

My name is Amy, with Autodesk Education Support and I would like to apologize for the late reply and make sure you get the assistance you need.

I checked the education website and this is the description for AutoCAD:

"Software for 2D and 3D CAD. Includes access to AutoCAD Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, Map3D, MEP, Plant 3D and AutoCAD Raster Design"

This means that Plant 3D is included in that package. However, if you are having issues accessing those tools, please see the Autodesk Forums for technical support.

Ethan, please let me know if this information helped resolve the issue. If not, we are happy to continue working with you until we figure it out. We ask that you provide any additional information that may help us resolve the issue, such as a screen recording or relevant screenshots. Simply attach them to your reply.

Thank you,
Amy

Does anyone know how I should proceed at this point?

Do you have access to the Autodesk Education Portal?
If so, you have access to download and install Plant 3D. Plant 3D is 100% installed as a toolset of AutoCAD as well as all other products mentioned in your post.
You will need the Plant 3D installation package from the Autodesk Education Portal.

I do have access to the Autodesk Education portal!

Currently, there is no separate download package for AutoCad Plant 3d 2023. Here are the products sorted alphabetically:

"Plant 3D is 100% installed as a toolset of AutoCAD as well as all other products mentioned in your post."
With this being the case, can you give me a simple set of instructions on how to confirm that Plant 3D is installed in AutoCAD 2023? A toolbar, an installation directory, anything? Every tutorial I find mentions the project manager pane or some other toolbar that is not present in the Education Version of AutoCAD, from what I can tell.

Again, thank you so much for your help.

Best,
-Ethan

In your programme file directory under AutoCAD 2023 there must be a folder called "PLNT3D", if not, Plant 3D is not installed.

or under Programmes and Features

Thank you! This confirms that Plant 3D was not installed with the version of AutoCAD 2023 that we installed.

I am going to reach back out to support for more information.

Thanks!

Well... As it turns out, if you launch the education portal, wait for it to load, and then refresh the page, there is a standalone AutoCAD Plant 3D installer that appears.

I have been working on this for about a week and I cannot believe that I needed to refresh the downloads page for all of the products to appear.

In any case, thank you again @h_eger for your help.
