dbconnect manager does not work

Anonymous

Hi everyone

Trying to connect to the SQL database (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCDVQHcHEMI) does not work on my version of plant 3D (2021)
It can not find the SQL so I have to type it manually and then when I connect to the database it takes up to half an hour to load the piping dcf file.

See screenshots

There are no subfolders as shown in the youtube vid

The sql is local on the same laptop as Plant is installed so no firewall issues or other network related stuff. Local is local right?

So why can I make a SQL project without issues but can not use dbconnect?

Please help to fix this thank you

Please check whether the current driver for SQL Server is installed.

Microsoft ODBC Driver 17.7.2 for SQL Server (x64):

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/connect/odbc/download-odbc-driver-for-sql-server?view=sql-serve...

It will be the case that you work with this antiquated technology like dbconnect in Plant 3d.
We use the PLANTXDBMANAGER to communicate with external databases.

Open a support case at Autodesk and you will surely get an answer.

We use a combination of SQL database --> Excel --> Plant 3D --> data linked table and plantxdbmanager (for live db connected properties).  Can I ask what you're trying to do with the dbconnect manager?  There might be a different approach.

Dear @Anonymous ,

I don't know your configuration, but the XDBMANAGER works perfectly for me as shown in the picture.

I want to see the SQL project database (DCF files of SQLite project) See the video on my first post.
The DCF files contains info of the project but since we use SQL the DCF files are empty.
See the video he shows how to see the data from the DCF files in the SQL server

Dear @Anonymous ,

One of us should check his SQL Server and the access rights: It's not me!

I have recreated your scenario and it works fine for me!

Unfortunately, I am not the administrator of your computer.
I am missing the general information about your installation and configuration.
Which version of the SQL Server Managemat Studio do you use?
I am using version v18.6

If you want I can make a screencast showing all the settings.

Please note!!
SQL is installed on the same pc as Plant3D

I did not changed anything in the projects (there are 3 test projects as you can see

Anyone who can help me pls? My deadline is coming and it still does not work proper.....
I used the Autodesk PDF about SQL server setup and did everything listed in it.. Even remote connection using TCP.

| Checked the roles and login.... I can make new projects without issues but can not use the DBCONNECT command.....

I'm not sure about your problem, but a simple solution to getting your work done might be using management studio to export to excel, cleaning up the excel workbook, then using that data as a data linked table.  This is very one directional, but it does work.

My work here is to get the command up and running and not export from ssms... ALl needs to be done straight from within Plant3D and as @h_eger  showed it works for him.. SO what settings needs to be changed that are NOT mentioned in the PDF from Autodesk about SQL???

Again why can I make a new project without issues. Open the project and work in it, But am unable to access the database using DBCONNECT.....
