Custom ISO Symbol error

Custom ISO Symbol error

Hello,

I'm attempting to create & add a custom ISO symbol for a Y-Strainer.

I have added to IsoSkeyAcadBlockMap.xml the YStrainer AcadBlock & SKEY (I have tried without wildcard)

Strainer 1.PNG

I have drawn my block and named it "YStrainer"

Strainer 2.PNG

I have ensured the type and SKEY are filled in within the catalogue.

Strainer 3.PNG

I have confirmed that the type and SKEY are present in Plant 3D with the data manager.

Strainer 4.PNG

I get the following error if I place the Y Strainer in a drawing on its own

WARNING - Disconnects were found in model of Line Number 'UserDefinedLine'.
WARNING - Lone components were found in model of Line Number 'UserDefinedLine'.
WARNING - Lone components were found in model of Line Number 'UserDefinedLine'.
INFO    - Loaded '0' model(s).
FAILURE - Isometric could not be processed because the input file is unreadable.

If I connect pipe to it, the ISO just ignores it is there, doesn't give me an error and doesn't show a shape.

Any advice?

'YStrainer' is not a valid symbol type. Try using 'Filter'.

I now get the error

WARNING - Component found without symbol definition. Placeholder symbol has been used.

Under which group you have inserted you SKEY in the acadblocks.xml?

Try to insert the skey under Valves or Instruments

than use for STYP = VALVE or INSTRUMENT

Hi,

I have the same problem. I created new symbol. write to acadblockmap.xml, generated iso is good, but orientation Y-Strainer is bad.

Y-FILTER.JPG

Attachment:

Iso: first Y-strainer is by chance good. Other are bad orientation.

Why?

I set up Flip Y, result = zero. FlipY and X, result = zero. Not Flip totaly **** 🙂

No funtion 🙂

Its not important that my pipeline works in reality. The point is, according your problem that in my iso shows exactly what ive created in 3d. or should we discuss whats possible in reality and whats the best GMP?

Or did i mussunderstood you?

I don´t know if you use your own 3d geometry for your Strainers. For this test i used a predefined one. But the method is exactly the same.

i used for that the pipe spec 40HC01

1. i created a piperouting like yours.

2. i create a custom part (base part is CPSY001) enter correct NS, Pressure, Facing, if you create your own with plantpartconvert, be sure that you create 3 ports!

Iso1.PNG

3. drop it on your line

4. you can see there is a red line to filterbotton. that means that the strainer is created with 3 ports!. Thats absolutly necessery that plant can identfiy the orientation of the strainer.

iso2.PNG

5. create a isosymbol with 3 ports + cP

iso3.PNG

6. add new symbol to isoSkeyAcadBlockMap.xml, in my case i have added it to Valve, but the group is not important, but u have to choose the same STYP in the next step than

iso4.PNG

7. change the Skey in 3D Modell.

iso5.PNG

Thats all.

Ok i have changed my orientation to yours. I see the same. the Strainer in the Vertical line has the wrong orientation.

iso6.PNGiso7.PNG

That looks like a bug. But what you can do here is. Create a new Symbole with a flipped Port 3 to the left site, save it as YSTRAINER2, add it to the xml file, and use this one for the vertical line + the other one which works not correct

iso9.PNG

than anythign should be fine.

I do the same. Step by step and finish is the same.2 ports or 3ports it does not matter. 😞

I will rotated the symbols manually.

Thank you for your time

Quite honestly, I'm not sure which of these post above helped. I kept trying things and through trial and error, it worked.

I believe I had the "Type" set incorrectly. I needed "FILTER" in that setting....

I just marked both @Ruffy85 and @jabowabo posts as solutions. When reading through it both likely helped to resolve the issue. Type is very important - likely more important than the actual SKEY - which can really be just about anything in the IsoSkeyAcadBlockMap file (within reason obviously)

Type refers to the class or type used to create the objects in Catalog editor. I use that when recalling types for the object. OR the properties in Plant 3D should list its type/class as well.

Hi,

thank you for your reply, but I'm confused.

Which Type is correct?

I have in catalog Miscellaneous/Strainer this is Class and Type=FILTER, Skey=XXFL is not important.

ISO is bad direction. See image up.

Thank you for your reply

This was and is a different problem. As @Ruffy85 pointed out above it would likely be best to create two symbols and see which one works in the orientation you need.

That 'type' is correct - keep in mind the types from catalog editor to IsoSkey are general and not all apply - i probably should have mentioned that caveat but its neither here nor there. When in doubt look at what is already there in a spec or catalog- in the case of strainers they are in the ASME and other catalogs by default.

I believe the type used came from Isogen but i could be wrong. When in doubt and the component is not in Catalog use this:

De-Mystifying AutoCAD Plant 3D Isometrics - Types start at page 16

HI, your explanation was quite helpful. Thank you so much.

I just had one question, while adding the ports you mentioned adding 3ports + CP. What exactly does CP mean and how does one can be added?
