Creating a metric spec

Hi,

Just trying to create a new spec. I want to base the catalog on ASME fittings, but then this will bring in the info with KG weights. Is there a way to do this automatically or do I need to input the lb weights to kg manually?

Thanks

Hi SC,

There is a catalog that I created while at Cadgroup that is available for free on the App Store.

It is a copy of the ASME Imperial catalog with Metric Size Descriptors and metric weight. It does have Schedule listings from 5S to XXS & 160 for Pipe, but does not have Schedule fittings as these are not included in the base ASME catalog.

"ASME Pipes and Fittings Catalog - Metric".

BiT have recently published an Imperial ASME catalog with fittings of ALL Schedule.

"ASME SCHEDULE FITTINGS CATALOG - IMPERIAL"

This catalog has Imperial Weight, Wall Thickness and Size Descriptors for all fittings for all schedules, as well as some additional elbows.

A Metric version with Metric weight, Wall Thickness and Size Descriptors for All schedules will be available early next year.

regards,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

I did find that on the website and I am using it now. Thank you for creating it. ( there is a lot of work that goes into that)

Just for my understanding, even if I set up the Project to be metric based (imperial pipe sizes) the software still needs to have a separate metric catalogue?

Hi SC,
If you are looking to include “Long Description Size” in your MTO’s you
will need a catalog with metric size description.

If you are happy to use the “Size” column to display metric sizes then an
imperial catalog is ok in a metric project.

Weights and wall thicknesses are a different matter. That is why I am
creating this content.

BTW, I have been working on a large Lithium Plant the past 3 years.

Best regards,
Bruce
