Converting a hatch into a solid

Is it somehow possible to convert a hatch into a solid? (or maybe first into a polyline, that can be extruded to a solid?)

My goal:

I want to add our client logo to a Navisworks model, but it seems Navisworks can't handle hatches nor images.

I have attached the client logo dwg file

(using Plant 2019 and Navisworks Manage 2019)

Hi @m.bevers,

The the following:

  1. Select the Hatch.
  2. Select Recreate Boundary from the ribbon.
  3. At the prompt "Enter type of boundary object" select "Region".
  4. At the next prompt "Associate hatch with new boundary?" select "Yes".

Note: You may need to tidy up some of the hatch boundaries where the boundary intersects itself.

Hope this helps,

Dan

Hi @m.bevers,

Did you have a chance to test my suggestion?

Thanks,

Dan

I did and it worked indeed, thanks

Stil quite a bit of handwork as I can't select all hatches to recreate all bounaries at once. Seems I have to do it one by one (It's about 30~40 hatches)

Unfortunately I cheered a little too early.

The method Dan suggested works in some cases (for some letters), but I'm still having some difficulties. I can't get it done for some letters because I get the message: "Cannot sweep or extrude a self-intersecting curve"

I tried a few other things, but can't get it better than this:

Can't convert the letter "e" into a solidCan't convert the letter "e" into a solid

Anything else I can try?

Or could someone have a look and try it on the dwg I attached in my opening post?

Hi @m.bevers,

Some of the letters need to tidied up and then re-hatched.

Once you do that, recreate the boundary and it should work:

I have attached my test copy of the logo drawing.

Thanks,

Dan
