Conversion of Autoplant 3D model to PDMS

I'm presently on a project with existing Autoplant 3D models but the client has expressed desire to have the models converted to PDMS.

Can someone who's had similar experience please share on the way forward.

Many thanks.

You'll need to talk to your AVEVA rep.  Autodesk Plant 3D has nothing to do with this.

Hi

This is a common problem. There are a few big issues with converting between the two tools. One is that it is not just about converting geometry, but catalog and specification driven objects. For this to work properly you would need to have working/matching catalogs and specifiactions in both tools. Another issue is that the geomtry kernel is totally different. AutoCAD is based on BREP while PDMS use basic shapes like box and cylinders.

There are conversion tools/services out there that either can convert everything as geometry, or intelligently if there are matching catalogs and specifications in both tools.

You may want to look at this website: https://www.nois.no/en/products/bim/isy-plant/
