Channel Support Frame Trim/Extend

I'm building a frame using channel but am not sure how to make the middle portion look right. The web of the middle member should only contact the web of the adjoining members. Its the same case with the flanges: the top and bottom flanges of the middle channel should only contact the top and bottom flanges of the adjoining members.

I didn't have "official" training. I am "self-taught" which is why I am asking a lot of questions. I did attempt to use the commands on the Cutting tab but none of them are working the way that I would expect them to.

I would have liked such a feature too, but it seems to be difficult in plant3d. you might be able to create what you want using the feature called notch in inventor.
