Change nozzle thickness on converted equipment

Hello everybody,

 

I have a converted equipment in Plant 3D and I've added a nozzle using the NozzleGrip icon. I want to change the nozzle thickness, because the nozzle on the equipment is a custom nozzle. 

I tried to change the thickness of the specific nozzle in the 'Common Nozzle Catalog' and used specific nozzle this on my converted equipment, but on the isometric the length of the bolts stays the same. I've added some screenshots of the Common Nozzle Catalog.

 

Does anybody knows another method to change the thickness of the nozzle of a converted equipment?

Dear @Anonymous,

 

I can not understand this problem with the bolt lengths.
It works very well with me.

The equipment you're using is a parametric equipment from Plant 3D. If you have an equipment dwg which is converted for Plant 3D usage, the bolt length won't change when you select a custom nozzle.

 

I've read other forums yesterday and it seems that this problem is known by Autodesk since 2013.

Does anyone have a work around for this issue? It's still the same in Plant 2024

We don't have these problems because we use the external tool from Auxalia with the Plant Express Tools  and their bolt length calculation.

Have you already reported this problem to Autodesk Plant 3D Support?

Hi,

 

For what it's worth, it's still not been fixed in 2025 either.

 

The flange thickness is not being written to the port records for the nozzles.

 

There is a workaround that will calculate bolt lengths but only for nozzle 1.

 

If you update the property settings on the Equipment class through project setup to make the Flange Thickness writeable,  you can enter a value for your custom equipment.  The first time you make a connection to nozzle 1, this value will be ignored. However, if you use the substitute grip to change the boltset on the connection, the value will be read and the bolt length will be calculated correctly.

 

If your custom equipment has more than 1 flanged nozzle or it's not nozzle 1, you're out of luck.
