Autocad plant 3d linux

I know modern versions of autocad don't work with Linux but why can't Autodesk work with something like wine or develop there own compatibly layer to allow Linux to run autocad I have to keep a VM for autocad it's the only software I can't really run on Linux. Its a shame cause they have a Mac version although only basic but surely this is not out of the realms of possiblity for autodesk

1. Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D is not supported in Linux
2. The last version developed by Autodesk under Unix was AutoCAD 12!
3. AutoCAD is supported by Mac OS but does not support AutoCAD vertical products

At Autodesk it is also not in the pipeline to port further AutoCAD or vertical products in the OS systems Mac OS or Linux.

Before getting into Linux, they need to work on getting AutoCAD to use more cores 🙂

My point here was I realize autocad does not support Linux currently even the older versions were very buggy using wine. What I am asking and that I hope Autodesk are reading is that the wine comparability layer has come a long way and that there are now very little software that can not be run via wine and that they don't need to do a direct port to Linux but develop a way for autocad the windows version to be run via wine in Linux.

In the past I've done a VM with windows pro (at the time windows 7) and I was able to install autocad plant 3d in it without an issue.  It's heavy, but you can get your work done.  You need to figure out all of the networking to allow the license server to work and all that but it can be done.

Yes this is how I am doing it just now but like you mention it can be slow running both. That's why I made the suggestion of running in wine.
