Autocad Mobile won't connect to my Leica Disto D2

I had a free version of AutoCAD mobile on my iPad that I could see the option to add my Leica Disto D2 to the app. However, the minute after I subscribed to premium this option disappeared and now I can't connect my Leica Disto D2 anymore.

Did Autodesk remove support to laser distance measure from the AutoCAD mobile app?

You will have to wait for an update that puts it back: could be today, next week, next month, no one knows for sure.

Disto Bluetooth support removed a while back. New update disables parametric editing of objects, so typing in disto information doesn’t work well either since if you type in a bad value you can’t edit it except by dragging. Not precise!

I doubt they’ll ever restore Disto connectivity, considering Autodesk customer service (bad!). Leica does have an app, but looks like no cad files out unless you subscribe (pretty greedy when it only works with an expensive disto that you already bought!).

These updates are causing mayhem for me - a month or so ago I couldn’t access downloaded drawings unless I was connected to WiFi which was extremely embarrassing in front of clients and I just found this evening, as I’m talking to brand new clients that the function to use the Leica devices is no longer an option! So there’s me with my iPad and D2, ready to start taking measurements and what do you know...the update has made the app useless for me. My Revit & AutoCAD subscriptions are up for renewal in January and I have a bitter taste in my mouth about it right now.

AutoCADMobile is suffering from growing pains, you will just have to suffer with the rest of us end users in this forum until they figure it all out. It is also a freebie perk of subscription for most of us, if this is truly affecting your need to resubscribe to REVIT and AutoCAD you might have a need to move off the reservation so to speak. There are lots of competitor out there wanting your $$ too.

In the meantime... until they fix the Leica issue (Leica seems to have a subscription option that might do what you want in their own software so it may no longer happen), purchase an iPad with 4G service ability, or pick up a MiFi device from your wireless company to use with your current iPad if client impressions are as important to you as they are to most of us.

Dropping Revit, etc. Now that might get their attention. Except they probably don”t care about one person dropping out.

Luckily there are alternates: ArchiCad, VectorWorks etc.

For the iPad, like the other poster said, you can pay Leica (thanks, Leica for adding fees on top of an already expensive piece of kit), or you can use a different CAD app in the iPad and enter the data manually.

Just having an iPad with drafting apps (and conceptual design apps in my case) already impresses our clients. Bluetooth connections are good, but actually they’re much more impressed with the design apps than the CAD and measurement because they can see the options we’re proposing for a new design. Not that the iPad is to impress clients: it’s to speed and improve workflow.
