AutoCAD Mobile not displaying full DWG file

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have the AutoCAD mobile app with the premium subscription (can open files up to 40mb) and I am using an iPad pro. When I open one of my files, the full file is not displaying. I have checked that all the layers are enabled as well.

The file is on 17mbs in size, and the full drawing opens on my computer when using AutoCAD LT 2018

Any suggestions or help? We are trying to roll out iPad Pros for our company instead of multiple laptops if we can get this to work properly.

Do you just need to zoom out?
or turn on more layers?

Not sure what "not displaying" means to the rest of us who cannot see your iPad or have access to your files. Let us know.

Maybe there are external references that you are seeing in the desktop version, and they are not loading in the mobile version.

Also the file that I am trying to open that is missing data is from a ZIP file.. I am not sure if that helps.

An external reference (or Xref) is an external file (separate from the main DWG file) that is referenced into the main DWG file.

You know when you send a package to someone, you put an address on it so that the post service/FedEx/UPS knows where to deliver it?

The same applies to Xrefs. AutoCAD has to know where to find the Xref.

In your desktop AutoCAD LT, at the command line, type in "XREF".

In the palette that opens, you will see a list of Xrefs (if any), and the saved path and found path for each one.

Reply when you get to this point (embed a screenshot in your post of the Xref palette)

I'm no AutoCAD Mobile expert, but I'm pretty sure you will need to upload all of the files listed here, for there to be any hope that they will all show up in AutoCAD Mobile.

Alternatively, in your desktop software, you could select each Xref, right-click, and choose BIND. This imports the external data into the drawing itself. Possibly undesired, but that is up to you. Once they are all imported into the current drawing, save and re-upload to AutoCAD Mobile.

By binding the XREFs the file becomes 95mbs and is too large to open within AutoCAD mobile.

Does anyone know how to upload / open the XREFs at the same time or a work around?

Place all of your files in one folder on your PC, including all xrefs.
Open the top file(s) and confirm all the xrefs show up.

If they do... upload all these files to one folder your your mobile account file manger https://client.autocad360.com/#/filemanager.html and open the top file again.

Dean,

Those are the errors I receive when uploading.

It must either:
- Still looking for a hard-coded xref path and its not able to resolve it with the local file.
or
- it's somehow hitting the file size limit that the mobile option suffers from.

You can try to fix the first problem be removing all the xref paths from your top file(s) then re-uploading to test.
