single line and double line piping

Please tell me how to change the settings in viewports for visual single line vs double line.  Plan view shows single and iso views show double line.  I would like plan view to show double line.

One of the reasons could be the display component is turned off. This could be edited in the Display Manager (Manage > Display Manager) or you may turn it on for the drawing using the properties palette:

The other reason could be related to the display settings for that pipe system definition:

Thank you for taking the time to show these explanations.  I have been under the gun with dead lines, but I have worked at your suggestions.  I must not be grapping this program well.  Attached is what I found in the propeties box.  I can't seem to change it, it is greyed out,  and nothing happens when i click on the edit system display properties.  I am the administrator and have all rights.  Could you tell me where to find the pipe systems definitions?  This looks like it would solve the problem.

I can't see your attachment. To go to the pipe system definitions, you may either use the command PIPESYSTEMDEF or access it from the style manager on the Ribbon ('Manage' ribbon tab > 'Style Manager' > 'Piping objects' > 'pipe system definitions'.

From your first  screenshot for the properties palette, it appears you're using 1-line display representation. Could you try to change the display configuration, for e.g. MEP Design from the status bar and see if it helps?

Thank you.  This is my bar, and it doesn't have anything in the pull downs which says MEP.  I loaded the MEP menu by typing menu in the comman line.

Your current workspace is Architecture and the default display configuration is standard.

Please verify your current workspace is Piping:

Command: WSCURRENT
Enter new value for WSCURRENT <"HVAC">: piping

You should then be able to change the display configuration to MEP Design.

The workspace is set to piping, but I can't change standard.  The pull down doesn't do anything; there isn't a MEP.  Not good.

It sounds like this drawing wasn't started with an AutoCAD MEP template. I would suggest that you insert the current drawing into a new drawing started with the Aaeb Model (US Imperial Ctb).dwt. Once you have the new drawing open, use the INSERT command, browse to your existing drawing, uncheck Insertion point and Scale and check Explode at the bottom of the dialog so that the individual objects will insert instead of inserting your drawing as a block. Once you do that, you should be able to set to the various MEP display configurations.

That's it.  The templetes I have in the pull down start with Aecb.  Other than that, I now have the MEP Design pulldown, and all the viewports are showing double line.

Hi again,

I had an update incure on our MEP 2016, now the templete location doesn't carry a Aaeb or Aecb templete.  I am having all the same problems without the templete as before.  Can you tell me where I can download these templetes?

I don't know of any reason that the templates would be deleted but here is are two zip files with the templates for the 2016 version of AutoCAD MEP. I had to zip them up seperately due to the attachment file size limits of the forum. This is file 1 of 2.

Hi,

What you are looking for at least in MEP 2020 is Display Manager > Sets > Plan > (Choose Objects) Pipe > (select appropriate display options for selected object) 1 Line / 1 Line Screened / 2 Line / ect..

I need to do a bit more research into how acad defines "Sets" and how "Plans" == "Top View", however this is a working solution for us both.
