Is it possible to rename a Mvpart in Content Builder?  I would like to change the description for the MvPart as it appears in Autodesk Catalog Editor.

yes it is possible.
First you have to click that part with right mouse button and choose edit in content builder. Then you have to go to properties and change the names. Example below where I tried to change the duffuser name with "1A" at the end:

Then when you insert an MVpart to your drawing it will be displayed in the catalog:

After making changes in parts catalog i use to update catalog status with this icon:
