How to "fix" a mvpart ?

Hi all,

I try to find how to "fix" a mvpart, or a piping, or a fitting 🙂

try to explain :

I have a pipe with a elbow which is at the correct place.

If i change the pipe elevation, elbow move too. But i don't want that.

How to "fix" elbow at his place ?

Hi Christophe.Legrand,

Thank you for your patience.

Can you please let us know if it happens with any file and give us the version you use?

Can you also start a new drawing using an AutoCAD MEP template (starts with Aecb) and insert the drawing into the new drawing to see if you have the same behavior?

If the part still doesn't display correctly, the part may need to be rebuilt.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Lionel,

It's not a problem with MVPART.

I just want to have a mvpart that doesn't move if you change something.

I explain more :

If i put an elbow somewhere, i want to "fix" it so it can't move.

Hi @christophe.legrand,

perhaps you could upload a small sample file that we could look at?

Cheers,

Martin

Hi,

I'm sorry but i don't understand why you want a example file.

You can do the same thing.

Open a new drawing, add a mvpart. Connect it with a duct. If you change elevation of the duct, the mvpart move too.

How to avoid this?

You need to move the part that you do not want to move to a locked layer.  Autocad MEP will automatically move any objected connected to the original object that was moved.  You cannot stop this as it is integral to the software.  The only solution that I have found that works is to make sure that any objects that I do not want to move are on a locked layer.

I just duplicate all of my piping layers and add the word locked on the end.  You can create a macro with the action recorder that is tied to a command that will allow you to select the objects and have them moved on and off the locked layer automatically.

Hi Keith, I try this, but in my case, i can't put all objects inside a freeze layer. There is onnly certain parts that i don't want to see move. Look my screenshot, you understand what i mean 🙂 I think it was possible that someone have a lisp or something else to do that. In a another company, with a add-on to autocad mep, i can do it. So, this is what i'm looking for 🙂

Hi christophe.legrand,

Thanks for giving more information.

The best way to request a Lisp or to make any other customization request is to post your questions to the following forum. Visual LISP, AutoLISP and General Customization.

You can share a sample file, explain what you need and give the commands you use while doint the operation.

Regards,
