How do you draw in a plane other than the x-y plane. I am trying to draw a cricle which lies in the x-z plane but even with the view fixed in the correct orientation I am still only able to draw "flat" circles.

Since you have rotated the view to the direction you want, you can use the UCS command. After issuing the command, look at the command line. It gives you many options. The one you want is View. Type in V, and enter. The UCS icon should change to place the new X-Y plane in the current view. Use UCS World to switch back after you draw your linework.

There are tons of ways to accomplish this task. I just pointed you in the direction you were already heading.

When I want to draw in a different UCS, I do the exact opposite. I rotate the UCS and then use the PLAN command with Current ucs function to reorient my view to match the UCS.
