can I make a view template in AutoCAD like in Revit

Hello,
Is there a way I can make a view template in AutoCAD like in Revit?

I am setting up shop drawing sheets for a new job and, as nothing can be simple, we have to overlap two viewports together to get our desired look. CADmep items such as duct, accessories, and fittings are shown in the "Legacy hidden" shade plot, while 2D text/dimensions along with 3D solid items like reinforcement and hangers/stands are shown in As Display. To help cut down lag and how many people need to use the same shop drawing file, we split them by floor.

It is time-consuming to set these up for each floor. I'm hoping there is a way to set up something similar to a view template so I can make changes/updates once instead of going into each viewport and hiding the undesired layers in them.

I see a "Linked to Sheet View" property, which looks promising, but I cannot figure out how to set that up.

Click on the "View" tab in the top ribbon, then you will see in the very right of the panel below "New View" and "View Manager".

Select the payers you want in your view, then save it with a name. You can save as many different views and can always recall them.

Nice! Can viewports in paper space be linked to those?

I believe it works for both. I usually work in the Model Space with 2 view ports, one in 3D with shaded gray, the other in top view with 2D wire frame.

As far as I know, it only savers the layer settings, which is already very helpful. Unfortunately, it does not save the horizontal cut plane, i.e. I ended up creating an EXCEL table with references to the missing stuff.

What I am hoping for is say a 1st floor overall, 2nd floor overall, and so on. each having two views for layer states I would need for "As Displayed" & "Legacy hidden" shade plots. Then link viewports from in paperspace to those overalls and crop them down to the sectors I need to show per sheet. We have our files separated by floor so the cut plane would not affect us.

The "View" function does exactly that, this is how my screen locks having selected "View" and "A1.5_1st_Floor_Plan", that's the name I saved this view. Then you change your layers for the next view and save it under a different name and you can switch back and forth. However, it saves only the layers, which apply to both view ports, but not the setting of the view angle ports, the type of display e.g. wire frame or shaded gray, the horizontal cut plane, - only the layers.

But this already helps a lot 🙂

I think I am making progress - I got the two viewports to freeze different layers for both views in the same paper space. However, some things aren't working like I need:

If the layer state changes and is updated in the named VP, views that were set to that are not updated to match.

If I set a close-up VP, the view is changed to match the original named view boundaries. If I could set an existing VP to the named view settings and only have the layer states updated, that would be perfect.

Ideally, I'd like 1 overall viewport with the saved layer states and have other (child/dependant) views linked to it to show any updates made in the overall - similar to how Revit works with dependant views.

I'm sorry, this is beyond my skill set 😞
