Autocad files combined in Windows Taskbar, should be separated

Between Autocad MEP 2024 and Autocad MEP 2025, the TASKBAR function is broken. In 2024, Autocad correctly shows files separately in the Windows taskbar. In 2025, it doesn't show them separately as it does in 2024. If you hover the cursor over the button in the taskbar, it will show them separately, but now that's another mouse-click required. Where do I report this software bug. As usual, tech support is unable to reproduce, deflecting, wanting me to reset to factory defaults, reinstall Windows, etc.

Please see attached screenshots showing the differences between 2024 and 2025 with multiple dwg files open, using all the same settings.

Already tried:

SDI variable (unrelated to this issue) is set to 0.

Microsoft Windows Taskbar setting (Combine buttons on other taskbars) set to Never.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. However, I'm struggling to see where your post has provided any insightful information as to why it does NOT work in 2025. Unless your post is simply to acknowledge that, yes, it *should* work in 2025. Is there something I am missing?

Correct. and Yes, you may have missed something: did you get a chance try those settings and confirmed they are on? If not, do so now, a program restart may be in order after the setting change.

If it still fails for you... Here are ways to open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help to either fix it or logged it as a bug to fix in the future:

Hi, im using Autocad 2025 at work and i have the same issue. In Autocad 2024 and older command "taskbar" works fine, but in Autocad 2025 not. I tried all combinations even in W10 main pannel setting.

What's your definition of "works fine" please? there is literally no perceived difference between 2023-2024-2025 versions with TASKBAR set to 1 (or 0) on my computer (all three year versions are updated and current).

Windows TASKBAR setting of "when full" and "never" gives a completely different look at the tabs in the Windows taskbar.

Here are screenshots from W10, and running Acad 24/25 , both have "taskbar" set to 1, both have openen two drawings.  The settings/profiles are the same. So why Acad2025  has only one label but Acad2024 two.

Sry for my english and these terrible pics 🙂

I have the same issue in 2025. I have notified a helpful AutoCAD support advisor who suggested a number of things to try but none worked. Next solution was to reinstall but it's a minor enough issue to live with for now. Hope they sort it. BTW, the tabs at the top still permanently show each drawing individually if that's any help to anyone.

Hi @martin.belka and @AreaDesign ,

Thank you for highlighting this matter once again. This issue has been well noted already and we apologize for any inconvenience this taskbar issue has caused in the meanwhile.

We have already created a bug for this matter as per my earlier comment.

Good to know it's not just my machine.  Hopefully this gets fixed soon.  This is a major issue for me.

You personally will need to report it: here is the webpage to do so

I'm also using ACAD 2026, and am annoyed that the TASKBAR command set to "1" does not fix this issue.

I'm still adjusting to Windows 11, which I hate, but wasn't sure if this issue was due to Win11 or ACAD 2026 (was using Win10 & ACAD 2020 until recently).

I haven't tried 2026 yet.  I'm still running 2024 for the time being.  2024 worked properly with Win 10, but not since we switched to Win 11.  Not only that, but Win 11 removed the ability to have a multi row taskbar, so it's a jumbled mess.

OP here to provide a link to software that may be helpful with adjusting to Windows 11; I'm not a fan of 11 either. Also, the issue I posted about was confirmed and logged as a bug, seen in this thread, and I confirmed it still exists without the software I have linked to below installed. The software below allows you to customize the Windows taskbar and bring back some of the form and function of the Windows 10 taskbar. I have had no issues with it so far in probably the last couple of years.
