selecting between stacked lines

If you have two lines stacked that are of different line types, say hidden and center, there will be areas that you can see one line or the otherr or even have some aeas of no line which would be in between areas of the dashed lines.  In my 2018 I could select either line depending where my cursor was on the line or even cut through and miss both lines if I drew a window through the "gap".  Now that I am in 2019, I cannot select the line on the bottom or cut through the gap with a window.  Is there some setting or variable that dictates selecting in this scenario?  We have others in the office who can do this in 2019, but I cannot.

Thansk.

This behaviour can be changed with the variable LTGAPSELECTION.

0 = gaps are ignored

1 = gaps are used in the selection

This was new implemented in AutoCAD 2018.
