Mismatch between Paper Space linetype scale and Model Space linetype scale

I think I have a partial answer for this problem, which has been raised by a number of others over quite a few years.  What it boils down to is incomplete programming objectives.  It is absolutely possible to program linetypes to have the same appearance in both MS and PS without the solution I provide next.

If, for example, you wish the line type to be the same in Paper Space you must first turn off MS linetype (MSLTYPE=0).  Assuming you created your model first with the linetype you wanted shown, then you have to go to Paper Space making sure PSLTYPE=1.  If it doesn’t show correctly then adjust the LTSCALE until it appears as it should.

This is a VERY POOR way to arrive at the correct results, AND it has been going on for YEARS.  It is time spent that will be questioned by those you work for, unfairly and most likely.  Part of the reason for this is contained in your printer software.  It has to be set to the correct media size output first.  The printer software, when set to the media size, should result in linetype scales that show correctly AUTOMATICALLY within the software.

MSltscale to 0

In layout, PSLTSCALE to 0 and do a regen all. It should appear to be the same in both spaces.

@Anonymous ,

you must also distinguish that the global scale in the model area controls the line representation - ie. if you are working in a model area in different work areas with different scales, all marked lines will always follow the global scale, regardless of the scale of the individual work windows.

The PSLTSCALE and MSLTSCALE settings control the behavior of the displayed line types -  for me both are set to 1.

@Anonymous -- I assume you meant MSLTSCALE rather than MSLTYPE?

We're wrestling with the same issue -- having scaled views in model space, but the linetype appearance needing to be controlled via the Properties palette for individual entities.

You mentioned that the printer software settings, when set to the media size, will result in the correct display of the linetypes. Would you elaborate on that? I'm not seeing the connection between the printer settings and the linetype scale.

When you see that name @steve.ackley95PPJ , it means that user has ben absent from the forums for so long they have been removed from the system. Your replies to them go nowhere.

Consider starting your own post or if you prefer a "me too"... in your post for this type of topic you always want to identify your exact settings for LTSCALE, CELTSCALE, MSLTSCALE and PSLTSCALE in your file(s) with the issue.

A sample DWG file showing the problem is always welcome.

If you open layer properties check that 'Linetype' and 'VP Linetype' are the same for the layer you are using

I had the same issue and I found that these were set to the different scales of the same linetype, hopefully it's the same for you!

Please someone help me. I'm going crazy trawling through chat rooms and youtube videos looking for help. I have 2 files. One is the model space file. The other is purely for all my layouts. So I reference in all my model files into this single sheet set. I just can't get the sheet set file linetype scales to match my model space files. I've tried all the permutations of 0 and 1 variables across both files. Nothings works.  This is very hard to understand. Why is it so complicated?
