Issue with dimension layer

I have DIMLAYER set to "usecurrent" but my dimensions still default to AM_5. This is only a problem when dimensioning. everything else will go on the current layer.

Are you using AutoCADMECHANICAL by chance? and/or MECH dimensioning tools?
