Hello,

You can stop the object highlighting after cursor hovering by changing the value of the system variable SELECTIONPREVIEW to 0 (zero).

If you need other options with the selection preview, please check this link:

Hope this helps.

How do I turn the highlight off when I am in an active command? for example, I have a 3d object in wireframe view and I'm trying to select a circle inside a 3d solid box in wireframe view, but it highlights the surface of the solid box and does not let me select the circle. Thanks in advance. The solution provided here does not fix my issue by the way.

Tools > options > selection tab > preview pane > deselect "when a command is active" and "when no command is active."

did that and it didn't turn it off. It only does it over 3d objects. It use to not do it when I had 3d objects in wireframe mode. not 2d wireframe but just wireframe visual style.
