How to make hatch boundary show as default when selecting a hatch?

When I select a hatch, the blue grip shows only in the middle of the hatch.

I am made to always right click the hatch and then select "Generate Boundary" to see all the blue grips that make up the boundary so that I can edit my hatch.

How do you make the grips show at all points that make up that hatch boundary as default whenever I just select the hatch?

I recently upgraded to 2018.  I never had this issue in previous versions.

Can anyone assist?  Is it some setvars that I am unaware of?

Hi @Anonymous,

Very good question, thank you for submitting this to the forums.

  1. Start the HATCH command
  2. In the Ribbon click the Boundaries drop down,
  3. Click the drop down next to Don't Retain Boundaries
  4. Change it to Retain Boundaries - Polyline

This will retain the setting for the instance you have the file open. Let me know if this works for you.

THIS I TRIED AND DID NOT WORK.  THE POLYLINE STILL SHOWS.  I DID NOT WANT ANY BOUNDARY TO SHOW.  WANTED IT INVISIBLE.  YET ONLY AND ONLY WHEN I PHYSICALLY SELECT THE HATCH I LIKE THE BOUNDARY TO SHOW UP IN BLUE BLIPS SO I CAN MODIFY THE HATCH.

SO WHAT I DID TO FIX THIS:

- TURN OFF THE ASSOCIATIVE OPTION

- TURN OFF THE RETAIN BOUNDARY OPTION

IT WAS THE FACT I HAD THE ASSOCIATIVE OPTION TURNED ON IN ALL MY TRIES THAT KILLED WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.  I THOUGHT ASSOCIATIVE MEANT TO KEEP THE HATCH LINES FROM BECOMING INDIVIDUALIZED.  WHICH I WAS WRONG.  THERE IS ANOTHER OPTION FOR MAKING LINES INDIVIDUALIZED THAT I LATER SAW.

THANKS.
