Detail view label contents format

I am attempting to change how the label contents in a detail view is being shown.  For this question I am using AutoCAD mechanical 2018.

My approach:

  1. double click the detail (in this case I double clicked detail K)

  2. Double click the part of the label contents to change, in this case I selected the scale:2.png

  3. I then select the format I wish for it to be displayed in, for this example I selected #” = 1’-0”3.png
  4. After clicking ok, it shows the correct format in the "Detail dialog box" but when clicking ok in that dialog box it does not change the format of the scale for the detail label.  If you open the detail dialog box again, it reverts back to the original configuration.
  5. A work around is to right click the field after step 3 has been completed and selecting "convert to text"4.png
  6. After this, it does show the correct "scale" in the label, but it is just text (obviously) but this represents what I want the the final product to look like.

Just as a note, I have created a Detail View Style which reflects this requirement and still cannot get the detail label to display correctly.

Hi @james-g-b,

I ran through the steps you showed, Thank you for the detail views, but have not been able to reproduce the issue, though I could have taken a slightly different step than you when creating the views.

Can you provide the drawing for testing?

Likes are always welcome.

All the best,

I see this post is a few years old already. I have the exact issue in Autocad Mechanical 2024. Was there ever a resolution or fix to the issue? I have many detail views i want to change format and converting to text only works for each view one at a time.

Hi @Vance_Engelbrecht

I believe this one was specific to the OP's file. Since this is older, and you are in a newer version, I recommend making a new post.

All the best!
