Cannot copy layouts in design center

Anonymous

I'm on Autocad 2017, french version, and while accessing the design center, if i navigate through content of a particular drawing there is noting showing.  Example, I try to drag and drop a layout from a drawing to an another using design center.  Through the tree, i navigate until I reach "layout".  Double clic, but there nothing.  I've tried from a another computer and everything is showing correctly.

I've tried locating a variable that would drive the design center but couldn't find any

Is there a setting?

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD Mechanical forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Design Center is an awesome tool, I am sorry it is not working for you. As far as I know, there is no system variable that would prevent Design Center from copying a layout. I noticed you mentioned AutoCAD 2017, can you confirm whether you are using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Mechanical?

It sounds like maybe you are only experiencing this issue in one drawing. Is this true? There are a couple things it could be:

  • The layout will not copy if the source has not been saved. Occasionally the copy will fail if the source file is open, closing it often resolves the issue.
  • The layout will occasionally not copy if the layouts share the same name ( for example, they are both named layout1). Try renaming one of them.
  • This can also be a sign that there is a corruption in the drawing file.

If you would like to share the file, I can test it to see if I can reproduce the issue on my machine.

All the best.
