Aligned section views only hatching one side of a part

Below is a screenshot of the problem. Any time I use an aligned section view, only one side hatches, while the other I have to redraw and hatch manually, which is unnecessarily long and tedious. If I hatch from top to bottom, then only the bottom portion hatches. If I hatch from bottom to top, only the top portion hatches. I'm using AutoCAD Mechanical 2020, and the viewbase command to make my views.

Hi,

usually hatch doesn't appear in section view if there is a problem in your 3d model . i suggest to check your 3d object that it consist just from solids not surfaces . you can test the procedure if you draw a very simple 3d solid object and make a view section and see if any changes .

Here's a basic cube(rectangle>5,5>extrude>5), cylinder(circle, diameter>5>extrude>5), and sphere(circle, diameter>5>line>midpoint,midpoint>trim half of circle>delete midline>revolve end to end 360 degrees).

Again, they all cut off hatching halfway. I tried surfsculpting each, but it didn't make a difference because they were already solid.

It's 2025 and this problem still exists. I tried googling this and surprisingly this is the only relevant result. I found a video that used AutoCAD 2016 and it showed the aligned section working properly. So it DID work in the past.

Additionally, I found that the "half hatch" problem is only present when using the "normal projection"; using "orthogonal projection" removes the issue. However, normal projections are more useful and I think the primary reason why aligned sections are used in the first place.

Hoping someone from AutoDesk can sort this out.

This is still a problem in 2026 as described by the latest reply. Hoping for a fix soon.
