Map3D .NET Development ... let users of Window 8/8,1 run Visual-Studio Debug

Currently starting into debug-mode crashes when loading ACADMAP.ARX, and that is nothing new to 2016.

With other words, whoever is using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 can not do efficient app-development.

I have not found a solution yet.

When you don't need Map 3D or Civil 3D API you can start with profile "as AutoCAD" (so it does not load the acadmap.arx)

In case you need that my current workaround is to create a virtual machine based on Windows 7, there you can run Visual Studio and start Debug-Mode.

I hate it to say, but AutoCAD Map 3D 2017 and Windows 10 ... same again. So with Map 3D 2017 the same bug is in Windows 8.1 as well as nothing better with Windows 10.

Autodesk does it's best for developers to change the product (away from Map 3D).

And all the idea station idea's ... which of the ideas are implemented in Map 3D 2017 ... I don't see anyone, or have I missed something?

thank you for reporting this issue and sorry for the inconvenience.

The issue is planned to be fixed.

In the mean time we can use the following workaround to debug with Windows 8, 8.1 or 10:

Workaround:

1. Open following folder: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\Map\YouLocale, e.g. for German, it is C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\Map\de-DE
2. Copy file map_en.res and paste to the same folder
3. Rename map_en.res to map_yourlocale.res, e.g. for German, it is map_de.res
