Dear all,
I have a 3D layout with multiple identical rectangle objects (3D-polylines) replicated with different elevation (Z-axis) as it is following a slope. I need to convert each of these rectangles as one unique block, exactly like the BCONVERT function but in 3D.
Do you have any tips on how to do that ?
Thanks a lot for your help !
You are in the Map3D Forum. Just to let you know, this forum supports GEOSPATIAL DATA, such as where an object is located on planet Earth and what information does that object contain. If you are looking for 3-dimenssional drawing consultation, you'd be better off going to a Forum that's deals with 3D programs such as, but not limited to, Inventor, 3DSMax, etc.
AutoCAD Map3D is more than capable when it involves blocks. Those blocks, however, have an insertion point. The insertion point has coordinates such as X, Y, and sometimes Z. That block entity doesn't have length like a line nor an area either like a polygon. It only has an insertion 'Point.'
Piggybacking that block may, or may not, include Object Data (OD). Although OD can exist alongside block attributes, they may also exist by themselves. You may consider the OD attached to a block as additional information or as an attribute on steroids.
Believe it or not, when using 'Map3D tools' the program may treat your block like a Point, not like a geometric shape with a perimeter (length) or a polygon with an area. Map3D is more suited to a block's Attributes and its Object Data compared to its geometric appearance.
If you are looking to treat your polygonal 'block' like a 3D face then other more 3D-ish programs may be more appropriate for your needs.

Where did you find this command BCONVERT? It's an unknown command in my Map 3D software.
Olivier Eckmann
Yes BCONVERT is only in the regular AutoCAD (or Lite version in my case).
It is very useful for 2D layouts and I need to do exactly the same thing but with 3D objects...

Thank you very much @ChicagoLooper for your developped response.
I might change Forum then, but even if my question is not related to GEOSPATIAL DATA, if I need to manipulate 3D "objects", this is the only AutoCAD version that I have access to.
Ah ok, it's a new feature of 2025. I use 2023, so command is unknown for me. Thanks.
