Start Map 3D instead of C3D 2023

I am having trouble starting Map 3D.  I copied the Civil 3D desktop icon and tried "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2023\acad.exe" /product Map /language en-US but that didn't work.

"Help" is not very helpful.  For starters, I am looking for the "Maintenance workspace".  I tried opening an OOTB Industrial Model template, and didn't get very far.

Hello

BUT have you installed ACAD MAP 202X ?  or  ONLY ACAD CIVIL 202X ?

The right shortcut for ACAD MAP 202X is :

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2023\acad.exe" /product MAP /language "fr-FR"

Instead of copying the Civil3D desktop icon, copy the Map3D icon. If you don’t have a Map3D shortcut on your desktop then you’ll need to create one.

Hi,

You can launch Civil, then create a new profil named ACAD in options dialog.

Quit Civil

Run REGEDIT and go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R24.1\ACAD-5100:40C\Profiles\ACAD"

R24.1 is for Civil 2022. For 2023 it should be R24.2

You find a key named "IsPureAcadProfil". Change value from 0 to 1   Save and Quit

Copy Civil icon and add  /P ACAD at the end of target.

With this registry key value you can convert any profil from MAP to Civil and reverse

@braudpat - i could not find an official Map 3D 2023 download. It is all included in the Civil download.

@ChicagoLooper - i said "icon" when i should have said "shortcut". the icons are embedded in acad.exe.  I could not find a "Map 3D 2023" shortcut.

@O_Eckmann - a new profile works. modifying the registry value "isPureAcadProfile" i don't think is required.

To get the "Maintenance workspace" i did an export / import <<C3D_Metric>> to a new profile.  Then in CUI you can transfer the workspace from "Map.cuix".

But this does not answer the "product" question.

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2022\acad.exe"  /product MAP /language "en-US" starts Map 3D 2022.

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2023\acad.exe"  /product MAP /language "en-US" does not start Map 3D 2023.

Unless your account manager did not give you that software's entitlement, then you'll need to reach out to them. Looks like you figured it out with it.

  1. While in C3D change your Workspace to Planning and Analysis. The Map3D ribbon (toolset) will become available.
  2. You don’t necessarily NEED the M3D ribbon b/c you may invoke commands on the command line. Whether you click icons on the ribbon or enter them manually using the keyboard, the M3D commands will still work even if you decide not to leave the Civil3D workspace.
  3. Planning and Analysis is a replica of M3D with a few exceptions, e.g.you want, or work with, the M3D industry model then it won’t be available through P&L workspace. You need the Map3D stand alone for that. (BTW, that’s the only exception I know of. Other users, of course, might know of others.)

Hi @fieldguy ,

If you've installed only Civil3D, product launcher is C3D, you can't use MAP.

If you've installed Civil3D AND Map3D, you can start with product "C3D" or MAP.

Registry key is only use when you have installed Civl3D and you want to start only MAP program without launching/charging all ARX/DBX related to Civil3D.

This is the default profil corresponding to launch "Civil as AutoCAD".
