"No tables found" in the Define Query of Attached Drawing(s) Dialogue Box

I am introducing myself to Map 3D 2018 for a project I will be starting on for work. Currently, I am working through of the first tutorials (Building a Map) and I am stuck on Excercise 3: Query in data from the drawing.

When I get to step 4, I am unable to continue. After I select "Object Data", it says that no tables are found. I looked through other forums, as well as Google, to see if I could find a way to change where the program is looking for tables, but I was not successful.

Does anyone know what I can do to get these tables to load? I have been following the tutorial steps to a "T" and I am unsure how to continue.

I am including screen snips of what I'm looking at (my Map 3D screen and the tutorial steps) to hopefully help with clarity.

Thank you for any help or ideas that you can provide!

Hello, please attach here DWG (if not lazy, save no higher than 2016 version) , whitch You are attaching for needed Query. We will see at Your drawing in this forum.

Unfortunately, my office only has access to the 2018 version of this software. I am unable to upload anything older.

OP.    your dwg is empty.  where is the city_boundary.sdf file?  that is where your data is?  your request is confusing.  you are trying to query data from an attached dwg.  where is the other dwg to attach?  What is the link to the tutorial if the is a link?

you need to post again and attach the sdf file at least.

Yes, the attached dwg is completely empty - no graphics, no OD. Smiley Happy

Assume that the "problem" is that these queries need to be done from a new file by attaching the requested dwg in Task Рane -- Map Explorer -- Drawings. (Do not forget him soon detached after the query).

Viewing your uploaded image titled Capture.png, you have not 'attached' a drawing. Note: Do not confuse attaching a drawing for querying purposes with attaching a drawing for external referencing. Although they use the same term, attach, they are two entirely different commands that serve different purposes.

Attaching a drawing for querying requires using the Map Task Pane and will result with the attached drawing being displayed on the Map Explorer tab of the Task Pane whereas attaching a drawing as an xref displays the newly attached xref on the External References palette.

To verify whether you have attached a drawing, in your case for querying Object Data, take and upload to the forum, a screenshot of your Map Explorer tab on your Map Task Pane.

It appears that in your Capture.png you have used an FDO connection to bring in an sdf file. You are then trying to query an 'attached' drawing. The sdf visible in the background of your uploaded image is not considered an 'attached' drawing and that is why you don't have an object data table.

Start from a clean, brand new template, assign an appropriate coordinate system then use MAPIMPORT (Insert tab/Import panel/Map Import icon/Browse to your sdf file) to import the sdf. Be sure to Create Object Data during the import procedure, creating OD is critical, then name and save this file with a 'dwg' extension using a name such as MyFile.dwg. This newly saved file can now be 'attached' to another new, clean drawing on the Map Explorer tab of the Task Pane.

If, and only if, you have created object data correctly and if you have properly 'attached' MyFile.dwg to a seperate drawing using the Task Pane, then you can perform queries and access the data table and all the OD contained within it.
