What file format does Map 3D use? I have a .dbf file and some shp files. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,

T

Map 3d natively works with .dwg files like all AutoCAD versions, but it can also connect to and bring in other file formats using Data Connect.

An exercise of how to use Data Connect is at the URL below:

http://docs.autodesk.com/MAP/2010/ENU/AutoCAD%20Map%203D%202010%20User%20Documentation/HTML%20Help/i...

Hope that helps you out!

Definitely helps to figure out how to load the files. - Thanks

I am currently downloading part 1 of 2 for the 30 trial 3D Map, so I don't have it yet.

Any guess on if the .dbf will load in? I was asked to try and view the files.

Thanks again,

T

Well, I know that shapefiles (shp) will have a few different supporting files associated with them, one of which is a dbf.

So if you have a shapefile called randomshape.shp, you will also have randomshape.dbf, randomshape.prj, etc.

If this is the case, then you shouldn't have to connect to the dbf file. The shapefile will reference that for information. You'll only need to bring in the .shp

You can see what Wikipedia says about it also.

bsoule,

Thanks again. I'll wait out the download and load in the .shp file. Much appreciated.
