Invisible object snap symbol

Hi,

Working with point clouds, we have a problem using object snaps. For no reason, the symbol sometimes disappears. It is then impossible to snap to the pointcloud.

The weird thing is that it sometimes works correctly.

Does anyone knows how I can fix it ? We had the problem with AutoCAD Map 2016, and we still have it with Map 2017. Could it be a Recap issue ?

Thanks !

Hey sorry to hear you're having an issue with point clouds.

Does the problem show up within the same point cloud, or is it that some work, and others don't?

Also, what file format are you using?  Is it too big to post?

Cheers.

Hi Alex,

The problem show up with differents points clouds. With the same point cloud, it sometimes work, sometimes don't.

We are importing E57, LAS or PTS creating from Faro, Leica or Riegl softwares that we import in Recap to create RCP files (yes it is too big to post sorry).

Thanks for your help !

Hmm.

What kind of graphics card are you using?  Do you have an updated driver?

Also, what happens if you shut off the hardware acceleration?

We are using K2200 graphic cards. I already tried to shut off hardware acceleration, and I downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers. The problem remains the same.

I wanted to make sure I closed the loop on this here in the forum, for the community.

After some digging and testing, this is regrettably a known issue with point clouds.

During my testing I did notice a slight increase in stability with smaller rcp files, and when they are spatially located closer to 0,0.  It was a bit hit or miss though.  I completely understand that is is not always the most realistic of situations too, and warrants our developers to continue working towards a solution.

If I have any news on this, I'll reach out to the community.

For now, on behalf of Autodesk I apologize for the inconvenience.
