Export SDF to shapefile

Is there a way of exporting an sdf to a shapefile in AutoCAD Map 3D 2010?

I have tried that, tried selecting the lines from the sdf and changing all kinds of settings, but cannot get this to recognise and export the data in the sdf. The sdf is 3d line data.

Try to explode all, and then issue _MAPEXPORT: any changes?

Found it but does not work, get error 'Apply schema on a single shp is not allowed' but the sdf is only lines data.

Please attach here your zipped SDF file, so we can check it out...

Easiest way I found to convert a SDF to SHP{ was either import the SDSF with map import then export to SHP, or use FDO2FDO from SL-King.

WIill send a sample sdf once I can, as don't want to put too large a file on here. My CAD Map has crashed and corrupted my profile. I wait now for IT to replace it for me.

Sorry, cannot get to the file, blocked through works internet. I tried this option, clicked on line and select all but it did not pick up any data from the sdf. Do you have to do something else before the export or is there something I am not doing in the export options?

It's hard to say what you did wrong, sir...

If your firewall blocks the downloading of my shapefile, I can send you it by email from my address:

Could you zip it up and put it on here like I did the sdf?

Hello antoniovinci

Thanks for this and its great but still cannot figure out how to do it myself in AutoCAD Map! How did you manage to highlight the sdf lines so they where recognised in the mapexport? I cannot get the sdf to even show up as selected objects to export. Did you use shape multiclass or ESRI shapefile as export? I am used to ArcGIS, trying to learn CAD Map but it is very different.

Could you show us how do you import SDF and export SHP, for instance with a screen grabber like Camstudio or Jing?

You should act like this: _MAPIMPORT and _MAPEXPORT.
