digitizing feature - command gets cancelled

Hi,

with Map 2017, SP1 + HF3 the following issues occurs on multiple workstations intermittently:

- when drawing a pline the command gets cancelled by Map without any user interaction

- usually the user digitizes a vertex and then zooms/pans to next location - whilst doing this the command gets cancelled

- in command line "cancelled" appears

has anyone else seen this?

Thank you, Rob

Hi,

>> with Map 2017, SP1 + HF3

Can you show a screenshot from the _ABOUT dialog? Mine shows that state of updates/servicepacks

>> usually the user digitizes a vertex and then zooms/pans to next location

What is the underlaying structure? Are there blocks/survey points which are then connected or is there a raster-file (areal image) built in or is BingMaps active?

Also may be important:

  • which object snaps are active?
  • always based on a specific drawing or does that happen with new drawings too (based on AutoCAD original templates)?

For me: I have not seen a cancelling of polylines during drawing, yet ... 😉

Hi Alfred,

"about" shows "N.104" instead of "N.301" - what does it mean?

about.png

No, we only have either plain CAD drawings or plain Map (FDO) drawings or mixed (CAD and Map FDO layers).

I dont have many details about circumstances - it doesnt happen to me. I have asked users to monitor issue in order to get an idea under which circumstances issue occurs. Users getting fed up with AC 2017.... So I'm wondering if someone else has seen this?

AutoCAD 2017 Update 1.1 is not installed, only "service pack 1" which is older than "update 1.1".

Let Autodesk Desktop App find and install the updates you are currently missing.

Hi Alfred,

what is "Update 1.1"? I only see Servicepack 1 für AC 2017:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads

Funny, the date shown is January 3rd but I downloaded it last year.

Anyway - I dont see "Update 1.1" - I dont have DesktopApp running as it does not work (as most of the things done or managed by Autodesk it seems).

By the way - I just downloaded SP1 again - and it exactly the same as the one I had downloaded before (comaping verion numbers).

Hi,

>> what is "Update 1.1"? I only see Servicepack 1 für AC 2017:

It is not available in the public area as it's an update, not just a bug-fixing.

You need to login to your subscription center ==> Product Updates ... or you let Autodesk Desktop App find the update(s).

>> I dont have DesktopApp running as it does not work

For me the last version runs fine. But I don't have too much restrictions blocking me (Firewall, Proxy, ...).

hahaha - an update? can only be an update from sodom to gomorrah....

2017 is just awful. If you havent updated to 2017 - leave it.....

Hi,

just one of my colleagues came round and asked if I want to have a look as it just happened.

So I went to his desk, he started digitizing a new line (Map line, not AutoCAD), panned and suddenly the command got cancelled.

I then tried my luck as well - and it got cancelled again. Third time I was lucky though....

Hi,

>> Map line, not AutoCAD

What is a "Map line"? Which command did you start to create that type of line?

>> panned and suddenly the command got cancelled

So for you it is reproducible when using _PAN or 'PAN or using middle mouse button that that specific command gets cancelled?

Does the same happen when you turn off hardware acceleration?

Is the AutoCAD update already installed?

Hi Alfred,

it is not reproducible - it just happened three times in a row. Thats why I said  I could "reproduce" it - in this specific occasion.

We use the middle mouse button to pan - I assume it is the same as command _pan.

I dont know what the name of the command it as you call it through the context menu - Map IM explorer > feature Class > Create new Feature of type "XYZ" (or something along the lines). "Map Line" is an Map Industry Model (FDO) line - in our case Oracle based.

Update is not installed as it has no further bugfixes than SP1 (I was told by ADSK support). No desire to install even more half baked functionality...

Hi,

>> "Map Line" is an Map Industry Model (FDO) line

Then turning off hardware acceleration might be very good to try as the past has shown that FDO objects and hardware acceleration are not really the best friends.

>> Update is not installed as it has no further bugfixes than SP1

Not really true, >>>the readme<<< shows there are some points solved in Update 1 as well as with Update 1.1, e.g. Polyline is one of them it might have to do with your digitize conflicts.

Forgot to mention that - we disabled hardware acceleration already due to other issue.
Many thanks to you Alfred,

Hi,

Update 1 solves an issue with 3d polylines :

"

  • Occasional crashes when creating a 3D polyline after an Undo.

"

This doesnt apply to our situation. So I wont install Update 1.

Hi Rob,

Could you find sollution?

One of our users faces similar problem.

Every TB feature digitizing (point, line, poly, every feature class) gets cancelled, always.

In case of line feature, I can click the first point, but then it gets cancelled before I click the second point. In the command line the "Cancelled" text appears.

We can digitize simple Acad line, pline, etc, but no TB feature. But we can create TB feature from existing geometry.

Thanks,

Szabolcs
