Copy layer from one dwg to another

I'm using AutoCAD Map 3D 2022.  I have 2 dwg that are in different coordinate systems.

I have both dwgs brought into Drawing1...not in different tabs.

I attached the dwgs and set up the Current Query and executed:

I can now view both dwgs on one map.

But, the layers in the newest dwg do not match the layer names in my current.  I'm just wanting to either copy some of the new lines and paste exactly where they are but under the other dwg layer names, or, change the new dwg layer names to match the current and save as one dwg.

After selecting the pieces that I want to change I've tried to change it's layer in the Properties pull down:

And I've also tried to change the dropdown in the ribbon:

Which results in the following popup so I'm unable to change anything.

I don't know how to get past this or what my best option is.

Please, understand I am a beginner and trying to learn as I get time which isn't much.

What everyone else considers the basics or common knowledge does not apply to me.

Hello @jandrews2NM7Y

Thanks for uploading those 5 images. They describe your situation and what you’re trying to do

Image 1 is good, but it is only the beginning of the operation that will accomplish your task. Follow the instructions below to resolve your issue.
ECAE9C06-F221-4A45-A126-C7C7982968DF.jpeg

Notes:

  1. If you still need to add more layers, delete the portion of the query below Location:ALL. Use the delete button on the right. Then add another query to add the additional layers.
  2. In regards to your uploaded image shown  below:B39FED8A-A72A-4362-A94C-B795D93E5F45.png

…….do NOT click yes. Click NO. Clicking yes will add any edits from the current dwg to the queried dwg.

3.  To move objects from one layer onto another layer use the command >>LAYMRG<<.This command will put ALL contents on an OLD layer onto a NEW layer and after adding, will delete the old layer.
