combining multiple lines of text/mtext

Greetings. Is there a way to combine multiple individual lines of text or mtext into one mtext? I would like to pick multiple individual lines of text or mtext and have it create one mtext element.

Hi @Brian_FarrellFXCFE

Yes. You can use TXT2MTEXT command.

If you prefer the Ribbon go to Express Tools tab=>Convert to MTEXT BUTTON=>Select the desired Mtext=>Enter.

Pretty sure this command doesn't do what I am asking. Using this process, I select multiple text entities, and it converts them to MTEXT as expected. But they are all still individual MTEXT entities. I want them to be combined into one MTEXT entity containing all the text entities I chose.

Did you select the result and pull the top right arrow to the right like this?

I did. But apparently there are setting that do that.

I'm pretty sure, no no I'm positive, you're not using the command correctly.

1. For example, you select 5 individual mtext objects. (The Properties Palette verifies it's 5 mtext objects.) Then, after clicking the Convert to Mtext button on the Ribbon............

2. .....hit Enter and the Mtext converts to a single object.  BTW, the command line also verifies 5 objects were selected.

3. The result is as expected....the conversion makes a single Mtext object.

4. At this point you can drag the upper right blue grip to the right. This expands the mtext width so the initial 5 lines reduces down to 2 lines. And it does this without deleting any of the original text. Why does expanding width reduce the number of lines? Because it's one Mtext object, not 5.

Yeah. That is all fine and good. As long as you set the command to combine into a single mtext object. All the responses and not one said to do that.

Huh?

You don't necessarily need to go to SETTINGS.

The default action is to combine TEXT to a single entity.

You go to Settings when you want to deviate from or customize the results. Since you didn't specify a custom result (maybe it would've been better, in fact you should've) then the options inside Settings are not necessary.

Huh? Well when I tried it as you suggested, it still had all the text entities as individual. they were now MTEXT, but still separate. When I saw the settings command I tried it and the combine to single mtext was NOT CHECKED. So yes. if you want it to combine and it isn't, then it is necessary to go to settings.
