Clipping Geotiff using Add Raster Image in Data connect option

Hi,

I have different geotiff raster image to work on to capture some details from it but it has extra border and details to each file at borders.

I have initially tried to work on the image with switching it on and off to capture details particularly at the border of the image as it overlaps with the adjoining geotiff raster image. It is bit tiresome to do so.

Is there a easy way I can clip the raster image as connected using above option so that I don't need to  go for option of capturing details with on/off repeatedly.

Autocad Map 3D has an option to clip image that is been inserted in to the drawing and it works fine which also works if use the geotiff raster, but it looses its geo location with insert option and I have to work on geomap location so the final details can be used on other platform by just exporting it with available options in Autocad Map 3D

Kindly suggest a way to do so easily as I have more than adjoining 20-30 images.

What, or who, is the source of the geotiff image?

If you have 20-30 adjoining geotiff images and have overlap due to their borders, then the original author did not foresee these images being used as adjacent adjoining tiles, i.e. all tiles serve to create a composite image. Where did the geotiffs originate? Who created them?

If you wish to use an FDO data connection to 'adjoin' the images, then the borders will have to use third party software to precisely clip them before bringing them into your drawing. If they are not precisely clipped, then you'll either have gaps or overlaps where the clipping is sloppy.

Alternatively, you may use MAPIINSERT (go to Insert tab=>Image panel=>Image icon). This command will insert your image, maintain the geospatial feature as well as allow you to use the CLIP command (Insert tab=>Reference panel=>Clip icon).

Hi Chicago Lopper,

I was initially using IMAGEATTACH command which was not considering the geo location of the image. With MAPIINSERT command I was able to bring the images to its geo location and clip them as per the requirement with the exact shape which took care of no gaps between adjoining images when used the select polygon option.

Geotiff were from local administration data, hence it was prepared for individual local area and hence the overlapping issue were encountered in it.

Would you be able to suggest which is the best third party software which allows to clip them for future reference . I would like to learn and try out that option as well.

Lastly Thanks a lot for the solution.
