Hi,

you need to describe in more detail when exactly the crash happens.

How often does the crash happen?
Is the crash related to something such as working in specific file, using specfic funtion?
What action does the user perform?
Is there any specific error message before Map disappears?
Have you installed latest SP?
Since when does iusse occur?

So many questions.....

You need to find out what the circumstances are which cause Map to crash:

- has it to do with specific data sets (drawing files)?
- has it do with a specific user (same crash if different user logs in)?
- and so on.

When Map crashes and the CER report window pops up you can look at the detailed error report (XML file) - sometimes (but only sometimes) it gives you a hint why Map crashed.

Are you sure it is Map - the error reprot says something else: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2015\acad.exe"

Good luck, Rob

These are the answers given by the user to your questions hopefully we can narrow down the issue:

Hi Jon,

In answer to the above questions please see my responses below,

  • Could be three times a day, or as infrequently as once a week.
  • The crashes seem to happen with specific drawings.
  • The action that always seem to cause the crash is save.
  • Map does not disappear, the system freezes.
  • Can't answer this one.
  • The crashes have occurred from the beginning.

  • Please see my second answer.
  • Nobody else uses this system, however, Dave Bowman has similar problems with his system occasionally (possibly the same files).

Regards,

Chris.

Hi,

if it seems to happen with specfic drawing files:

- use commands "purge" and "audit" to clean up drawings

That Map freezes doesn't mean it has crashed. It could be busy and be blocked.
Has user waited for some time (5, 10 min or longer) to see if Map recovers or is Map really "gone"? What does TaskManager tell you - is acad.exe using up CPU, is harddisk spinning?

Search for "autocad freeze save drawing" to see in which situations a similar issue has occurred and how it was resolved,

Also - make sure latest SP ist installed. Always a good thing to do.

Im getting the user to try the purge and audit and asked him whether he has waited for it to come back or if it just dissappears. will have to wait for his reply. i havent seen the crash myself so cant tell you about the cpu etc. as the user doesnt know how to check these things which is why i am on site. I have asked him to inform me when it crashes again so i can do the other checks.

User has frequently purged drawings and has waited numerous times over ten minutes, it mostly never recovers. I am just waiting for it to crash again now so i can look at task manager for the user and see what goes on. will reply when i have done this. thank you for your help so far, muchly appreciated.
