Aerial image broken in paper space

Hi,

I have an aerial image showing under my drawing so we can visualize where work will be done.

What's happening however is: When I set a custom UCS and then set up a viewport in paper space, the aerial image is out of alignment with the rest of my work.

However, in model space, everything appears fine, even with the custom UCS.

The attached screenshots demonstrate what I mean.

Why the custum ucs?  The map is not geo referenced?  What is the custum UCS?

Can you post the map and image?

I created a custom UCS so I can align my viewport relative to an object on the drawing.

The map is an ECW that I inserted using mapiinsert, which scales it and places it correctly.

Hi,

which way did you use to reference the image, _MAPIINSERT or _MAPCONNECT? You might try both ...

I always use mapiinsert, as map attach gives horrible image quality.

Mapiinsert seems to have some issues to be honest... I've had other problems in the past which you can read about here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/drape-image-on-surface-not-working/m-p/8216073#M378780

Hi,

Besides of that, do you see the same shifting with _MAPCONNECT?

In case the ECW is not too large, you might convert it to a TIFF and try _MAPIINSERT with the tiff too.

So I used QGis to clip the ECW to a smaller section and brought the resulting TIFF in using mapii.

It all seems to be working at the moment, even when rotated.

A painful workaround but on the plus side performance seems better with a clipped TIFF rather than using a whole aerial image that's around 5GB so I'll probably change my workflow to only use the whole ECW when necessary.
